Touring: Corning, Boston & Providence

September 20-29th, 2010 

 

Habatat Galleries invites you to join this exciting in-depth look at the aesthetics of noted contemporary glass artists of the Atlantic Northeast. How their approach to creating glass art differs from those of other regions.

The Tour Includes:

Corning:

The Corning Museum of Glass :  The “Voices of Contemporary Glass: The Heineman Collection”  with Curator of Glass, Tina Oldknow  and Ferdinand Hampson  the Director of Habatat Galleries , who helped  organize this gift to the museum. (Special insider stories) A Talk by David Whitehouse, Director of the CMOG, A visit “by-invitation-only” to view the 14 private Glass Installations  at  Corning Corporate Headquarters, “Tiffany Treasures: A Favrile Glass from Special

 

Boston:

Itinerary stops will include the studios/exhibitions of Sidney Hutter,  figurative sculptures of Robin Grebe, the  satirical glass cartoon works of  Ricky Bernstein, celebrated “star” of the studio glass movement / studio glass pioneer Dan Dailey , and glass jewelry “diva” Linda MacNeil.  Also seenThe Ware Collection of amazing realistic lamp-worked “Glass Flowers “ created by Leopold and Rudolf Baschka,  housed in the Botanical  Museum at Harvard  University,  A Private Glass  Collection, and the Permanent Glass Collection at the Fuller Museum with Chief Curator Gretchen Keyworth.

Providence:

Scheduled visits are planned to the studios of internationally recognized glass artists:  Howard Ben Tre, known for his massive monolithic forms and Toots Zynsky, who works in delicate pulled threads of colorful glass fused into flared shapes. Also  Daniel Clayman who works with hot cast glass and metal, turning them into sleek sculptural pieces, plus Jose Chardiet, using spirituality in his designs of etched, blown and cast glass. Finishing at the studios of minimalist Nicole Chesney, Marc  Petrovic &  Kari  Russell-Pool s nature studies and lampwork round out the tour.(Itinerary subject to change & final confirmations.)
